Worrals of the Islands by W. E. Johns was first published in 1945 by Hodder & Stoughton with further impressions in 1948 and 1950. The events in the book took place mainly among the islands of the Indonesian archipelago around November 1943.
In 1971, French publisher Aredit published a two-part comic strip adaptation of the story entitled Aventure dans la mer de corail and Quand vient la mousson in their small format comic series for girls Tina, in issues 40 and 41.
