Compiled twenty years after the war, in 1934, the books comprise two volumes of, newspaper style, narrative reflections and pictures describing the events of the First World War in hindsight. This must of course be borne in mind of the fact that at the time of its writing turmoil was once again rising in Europe with events leading to World War Two just five years on. Today these books do provide an interesting 1500 page analysis for historians to reflect upon. You can also select various chapters for a synopsis of the various stages and offensives during the progress of the “war to end all wars” on all fronts.
