Wings of the Wind (1988) By Peter Stainforth

The author's story starts in Tunisia and follows the action through Sicily, Italy and then Arnhem where Peter Stainforth was injured for the second time and became a prisoner of war. His book tells two stories: one of the engineers of the Parachute Brigade from its inception; and the other a perceptive view of soldiers' heroism and good humour in, often, appalling circumstances.

Story of a small unit of the 1st Parachute Brigade during two years of action in Tunisia, Sicily, Italy and Arnhem during WWII, written by a troop leader of the Brigade. Covers their first action at Oudna and subsequent withdrawal; the action fought to hold the last German counterattack in North Africa at Tamera; and finally the three episodes of the Airborne Division's stand at Arnhem.
