The Geneva Conventions Of August 12, 1949 (1981) By International Committee of the Red Cross
A conference was convened in Geneva in 1949 for the purpose of revising the Geneva Conventions of 1929 and the Hague Convention of 1907 relating to the protection of war victims. The conferences established the texts of four Conventions which are now undergoing the process of ratification by the countries involved. The United States will not become legally bound by the Conventions until ratification by the Senate of the United States in the manner prescribed by the Constitution.
